Job Description:
New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a
part-time, 2 day/per week, 20-hour Float Nurse
Practitioner/Physician Assistant to cover time in our both
Portsmouth, NH, and Kennebunk ME clinics. The successful candidate
will have a strong oncology/hematology background and be comfortable
seeing a broad spectrum of cancer patients. The NP/PA collaborates
closely with physicians diagnosing, treating, and managing patient
care in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

oncologists and hematologists serving the region from five separate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Elicit medical histories of patients, perform physical
examinations, and develop a differential diagnosis/problem list.

Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by
means of interview, health history, physical examination, and
diagnostic studies,

Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic data,
diagnose, and treat co-morbid illness within the scope of a
patient’s hematologic/oncologic diagnosis, perform procedures as
delegated by the attending physician, prescribe medications in
accordance with federal and state regulations.

Determine the eligibility of patients for entry into clinical
trials based on findings.

Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes
for improvement.

Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation
of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing
healthcare needs of the patient.

Educate patients and families about the disease process and treatment.

Provide information to patients and families related to
symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of
cancer and related treatment.
Travel: This position will have pre-scheduled days
in each of our Portsmouth and Kennebunk clinics as clinic needs dictate
