This position is eligible for up to a $1500 sign on bonus paid after a minimum of 90 days employment.

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS is currently seeking full-time  5 day/40 hr. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to join our Scarborough, ME location. The CNA will give topline care to a wide variety of patients dealing with cancer and blood disorders. Duties include rooming patients, taking patient vitals, completing a review of symptoms forms, reviewing medications, assisting in the infusion center The Certified Medical Assistant will work within a team of professionals including a physician, APP, primary nurse navigator, and a patient care coordinator.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the setup of examination rooms including preparing the room, ordering/stocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Professionally greet and room patients for their appointment obtaining vital signs, including Height, weight, BP, and pulse.
  • Uses professional judgment in disclosing information obtained from clients and operates under HIPAA guidelines.
  • Complete, record, and report abnormally high or low VS to the appropriate clinical provider for immediate intervention.
  • Complete medication and allergy reconciliation documenting in EMR.
  • Assist patient with and enter information into the EMR:  ROS form, pain assessments, fatigue assessment, and depression screening.
  • Complete lab and draws blood specimens when needed and once trained.
  • May assist physicians and advanced practicing providers with examinations and procedures including bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and intrathecal (OMAYA) procedures.
  • Independently performs EKGs as ordered by the provider.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Work Week: Monday- Friday no late nights,

Weekends: Participation in the weekend urgent care clinic in our Scarborough, ME location 4-5 time per year is required.  Weekends are scheduled a year in advance for planning purposes. 

Travel: Periodic travel to other NECS Clinic sights may be needed for coverage purposes.

Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.   
  • Must be licensed by the State of Maine and be in good standing.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a CNA, experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Active BLS card is Preferred
  • Experience with, and the ability to understand patient medical records, physician’s orders, and medical orders is required.
  • Understand and conduct yourself per accepted clinical standards and the ability to maintain strict HIPAA compliance.
  • A high level of oral and written communication skills and typing skills are required.
  • Must be adaptable to being in front of patients or able to work at workstations outside the clinic.
