New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently
seeking a full-time 32 hr. / 4-day Monday, Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday Infusion RN in our Topsham Clinic. The
Infusion RN is a critical part of our fast-paced outpatient
Treatment Room, dedicated to direct patient care for our
Oncology/Hematology patients requiring infusion services by
administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy drugs per
policy and procedure. The Infusion RN will collaborate with
Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers as well as other members
of the clinical team.
RN’s will be eligible for up to a sign-on bonus paid after
90 days of employment. Current and former NECS employees
are not eligible for this bonus. Oncology experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Draw blood from ports, central lines, and peripheral IV
access. Perform other procedures as needed.

Assist Physicians; conduct patient assessments.

Maintain patient care standards and assures that patient care
functions, such as assessment, treatment, and documentation are
completed safely and effectively.

Initiate and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates
and records patient/family response within practice protocol.

Follows established oncology protocols to maintain clean and
safe working environments. Safeguards self and others against the
hazards of toxic drugs, dispose of hazardous waste according to
the approved protocol.

Delivers chemotherapy per prescribed protocols and NECS guidelines.

Performs injections and IV therapy (IV starts, PICC line/Port
Access) utilizing aseptic technique.

Calculate/verify AUC dosing, CrCl, IVIG dosing.

Operate infusion pumps.

Perform therapeutic phlebotomy per physician orders.

Evaluate lab data in conjunction with the provider to provide
appropriate care to the patient.

Provide patient education at chairside regarding therapies the
patient is receiving.

Evaluate side effects and toxicities of therapy and provide
for their management.

Cross Train to Nurse Navigation for periodic coverage.

Maintain open and effective communication with all physicians,
employees, and vendors.

Provide recommendations on practice clinical policies and
processes to practice Directors.
Travel: Infrequent Coverage in our other clinics
may be asked on an emergency basis. Travel stipend available in
accordance with company guidelines.
Weekends: Occasional, these positions will
participate with other nurses in the weekend urgent care coverage.
4-5 times per year.
