Job Description:

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a full-time Monday- Friday Billing Specialist-Payment Poster to join our professional billing team. As a Billing Specialist-Payment Poster you will be responsible for the expedient and accurate posting of payments received, posting insurance and patient payments via electronic and manually documented processes. The Billing Specialist-Payment Poster will have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills in order to promote continuous quality improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Posts all payments to practice management system timely and accurately.
  • Creates payment batches and reconciles batches to the monthly deposit spreadsheet.
  • Records and balances payments from other off-site locations.
  • Runs reports, reconciles all payments and refunds before month is closed.
  • Communicates and documents payer denials to appropriate AR team member in practice management system.
  • Analyzes payer remittance advice to ensure coinsurance, deductibles and patient balances are posted accurately.
  • Identifies and manages payment posting errors
  • Reports patient payments on collection balances to practice collection partner.

Other Duties

  • Sorts and processes all mail correspondence for the billing office.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two year medical billing experience preferred
  • Candidates must be able to in a high volume environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of EOB's, EFT's and ERA's
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Must be familiar and compliant with HIPPA patient confidentiality.
