Job Description:

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) seeks a Board Certified/Board Eligible Palliative Care Physician to join the growing Palliative Care Team within our highly successful private Oncology/Hematology practice in beautiful southern, Maine. The successful candidate will be trained in Internal Medicine with a fellowship in Palliative Medicine/Hospice, experience in Oncology and Hematology patient care preferred.

As a Physician member of our Palliative Care Team you will be providing care in the outpatient and inpatient setting.  A brand-new outpatient clinic, Scarborough Palliative Care/Imaging Center, opened in February of 2018, which offers a quiet and peaceful atmosphere to see outpatient palliative care patients.  You will collaborate in co-managing palliative cancer treatments with our patients’ primary Oncologists/Hematologists. Also, you will participate in inpatient care on NECS patients that are admitted to area hospitals.

New England Cancer Specialists is a private practice opened in 1967. NECS is the region’s largest private Oncology/Hematology practice, with nearly half of Maine’s Board Certified Medical Oncologists and Hematologists.  Each physician leads a dedicated care team comprised of an advance practice provider, oncology nurse navigator, patient care coordinator, and a medical assistant.  Our team approach ensures that we can give comprehensive and personalized care to each patient.  NECS is honored to be one of 12 practices nationwide, and the only in Maine, to be accredited as an Oncology Medical Home by the Commission on Cancer.  We have focused our practice with one goal in mind: to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.  We participate in more clinical trials than anywhere else in Maine and offer leading-edge protocols and drug treatments.  As an independent Oncology group, we are free to collaborate with other top cancer and hematology specialists at treatment and research facilities across the US.

Scarborough ME, is located 10 minutes from Maine’s largest city Portland, 2 hours from Boston, a short drive from miles of beautiful beach and the lakes and mountain regions of both ME and NH.  The area has been voted among the “Best Places” by Forbes and Parenting Magazine.  Many cultural and social activities as well as exceptional school systems contribute to a rich and balanced lifestyle.
